Lessons Never Cease- A Weekend Adventure (Part 1)

Two weekends ago (October 31-November 2) I had the blessed opportunity of going with the Steck's, Hannah, and Raquel on a weekend excursion to Mae Sariang (a town about 2 1/2 hours from the school, Doi Inthanon (the highest mountain in Thailand), and the Salawin River. It was so much fun and a wonderful blessing to me! Here is a photo tour of the trip. Please forgive me for making it so long... There were just too many pictures I "had" to share. :-)

We left Sunshine Orchard around 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon. That Station Wagon was one loaded down car.

Hannah and I rode in the back most of the trip there. Praise the Lord, I didn't  get carsick once! :-)  It was loads of fun.

The view out the back of the car...

The clouds and scenery were spectacular...

Part of the time the road was pavement- part of the time it was dirt. A good portion of the time it had many potholes- some very large. The ride was often quite bumpy. Several times we traveled off our seats, nearly hitting the ceiling. It was fun. :-)

We had fun hanging out of the car too... ;-)

Here is what the road looked like at times... I didn't get pictures of the worst parts of it.

We arrived at our hotel around 5:30 pm. It was amazing to have real showers and real beds! We ate supper, had worship, then went to bed. Here is the view out our window in Mae Sariang.

The next morning we ate breakfast and watched Ouachita Hills College Friday night worship live. We sang some songs and packed up, headed for Doi Inthanon. Before we left we had fun taking pictures in front of a wall painting in the parking lot.

Raquel and Hannah...

Us girls.....

 Raquel and Mr. Steck... ;-)

In the car we read "One Miracle After Another," the story of Pavel Goia. Oh, how I was inspired and challenged as we read of what God can do if we will but ask and believe! One can learn a lot from hearing other people's testimonies. We arrived at the top of Doi Inthanon around lunch time, so we got out our mat and food and ate right beside the car.

The two Hannahs...

We went on a walk up there and came across this...

                                        The walkways were pretty neat.

                                                                    National park sign...

                                                                 Sharon and Hannah...

God can use so many different ways to encourage us and help us refocus... This sign did just that for me. :-)

After our walk at the top, we drove back down to a parking lot and got out of the car to find a place to continue reading about Pavel. We sat on a concrete barrier by the road for a picture, and we were amused by two Asian guys who decided they needed pictures with the  gullowah (white foreigner) girls. Boy, was that awkward! Smile and move on...

This was the view from the concrete barrier...

After sitting on the wall, we walked across this helicopter pad and down a little ways to a quieter place without other people.

This is the spot where we finally stopped. You can see on the right side it slopes down. That kept going, getting even steeper, and finally stopping at the road, probably somewhere between 50 and 100 feet below.

I know this is a strange place to stop, but I've been having issues with blogger not saving my post. I thought I'd better make this two posts instead of one and post it a.s.a.p. in case it has issues again! Praise the Lord it is working now in answer to my prayer! :-) He cares about even the little things in our lives... Another lesson...
